Project Phoenix provides strong support for re-platforming of existing applications, for example, moving from a mainframe to a distributed system under UNIX or Windows. Regeneration of the core Gen application is relatively straightforward, however, Project Phoenix also embraces the many non-Gen aspects of technology transitioning, such as automated DBMS migration, automated JCL conversion and automated 3GL source code re-engineering/wrapping.
